Dignity Kit Distribution at Tourist Hotel IDP Site, Freweyni, Tigray
Freweyni, Tourist Hotel IDP Site is a temporary shelter for internally displaced persons (IDPs) located on a small town in Tigray/ Ethiopia. The site was established two years ago to provide safe and secure accommodation for people who had been forced to flee from western Tigray, North Western Tigray, Eastern Tigray and even from neighboring regions of Afar and Amhara due to the conflict. as a site management agency TYES During its stay at Freweyni Tourist Hotel IDP Site, our staff were struck by the sheer scale of the operation. The site is very condensed, with very narrow and small classrooms. Despite the difficult circumstances, TYES in collaborating with different service providing partners, is doing its best to deliver integrated support for the IDP community in addition to the basic CCCM support. TYES deployed dedicated staff who work around the clock to ensure that the needs of the IDPs are met.
TYES is very thankful to RRF for playing a very essential role in supporting the IDP communities through its implementing partner/TYES/ as per we request to support dignity kits for the women headed IDP communities the response of RRF was very quick and immense.
The exact contents of the dignity kits may vary depending on the context and the specific needs of the recipients. However, typically, TYES received dignity kits including essential items that help promote personal hygiene, protection, and comfort of our beneficiaries. The items we received are:
350 Sanitary pads reusable
700 Laundry Soap or body wash
420 Underwear Woman
140 Sheets Clothes Women dress
140 Solar Lights type C
140 Plain Bags
All the responsible bodies and stakeholders which are local authorities from Woreda social affairs, IDP committee leaders and TYES site coordinating staff discussed and selected beneficiaries and TYES with Woreda BOSEGE distributed the dignity kits listed out above on July 25, 2023 to the people who have been conflict affected found in Freweyni Tourist Hotel IDP site. Dignity kits aim to meet the basic needs of individuals and promote their health, safety, and dignity.
